Norfolk: 18-year-old dead from gunshot wound; juvenile arrested at the scene

An 18-year-old Norfolk man is dead from a gunshot wound sustained early Thursday morning.

Branden M. Davis Jr. was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

A 17-year-old juvenile was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged in connection with the death. He has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm causing injury and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.

According to the Norfolk Police Department, officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim around 3 a.m. in the 500 block of Grantham Road.

When officers arrived, they found Davis suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
