New Canasta Club Forming at Staunton Senior Center

Contributors

Four members and one volunteer reached back into the recesses of their brains at Staunton Senior Center on August 7 to remember how to play the card game Canasta. Most of them said they had not played for forty or more years. Two card tables were set up, and the first day of Canasta Club was overall successful, with most players declaring afterwards that the game came back to them after playing for the morning.

One member was able to remember how to play and graciously instructed while beforehand, a volunteer read up on the directions and was able to refresh her own memory and those of her partners. Canasta Club will be scheduled twice monthly in the hopes of attracting current and potential members who have enjoyed playing this game in the past. Of course pick up games are always welcomed!
