Nationals win with walk-off in extra, 5-4

nationals_logoA Jose Lobaton sacrifice fly scored Jayson Werth from third with the winning run in the 10th as the Washington Nationals defeated Miami, 5-4, in 10 innings Friday night in Nationals Park.

Washington (76-71) remains eight games back of the New York Mets in the National League East. The Mets, 5-1 winners over the New York Yankees on Friday, reduced their magic number to eight with their win in the opener of the Subway Series.

Max Scherzer got a no-decision for the Nats with a solid start, going seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out six and walking three.

Marlins starter Jose Fernandez gave up two runs on five hits in five and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking two.

Clint Robinson hit his eight homer of the season for the Nationals.
