Motorcycle crash on Interstate 66 Sunday claims life of Fairfax County man

A Virginia man is dead after he lost control of his motorcycle while attempting to access Interstate 66 in Fairfax County on Sunday.

Michael J. Monroe, 43, of Fairfax, died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.

The fatal accident occurred Sunday at 12:36 p.m. on the entrance ramp from Route 28 south to the I-66 express lanes.

His motorcycle was on the entrance ramp when it lost control, went off of the left side of the road and struck the jersey wall twice.

Monroe was separated from the motorcycle and went over the jersey wall and fell about 40 feet onto a grassy area.

The crash remains under investigation by VSP.
