More doable for the average UVA Football fan: Charlottesville, or Charlotte?

Let’s say you and your buddy live within a couple hours of Charlottesville, and you’re trying to decide: UVA-Virginia Tech on Saturday night, or, if the good guys win that one, UVA in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte next weekend.

You do the math, and shocker, Charlotte is more doable, even with the hotel, than what UVATix.com can do for you.

You can get in the door at the ACC Championship Game, right now, as low as $41 per ticket, including fees, via VividSeats.

The official ACC site has tickets at $75.45 each, so, $150.90.

But you’re just looking to get in the door, not put a few bucks toward the $2.4 million annual salary of ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, so, you go with $82 for the tickets.

Then you need a hotel – there’s tons of options for Dec. 6 online right now on either side of $100 for the night.

Factor in gas (I’ll budget $75 there) and food (two extra meals, eat cheap: $50), and you can do this for $300 – let’s build in some wiggle room and say $350.

Now, Charlottesville – right now, UVATix.com has as its best get-in price $186 per ticket, or $372.

Already, you’re under budget going to Charlotte.

SeatGeek can get you into Scott Stadium right now for $107 each, so, $214.

From the perspective of UVA Athletics, those are resales – meaning: we don’t get more people into the stadium when you buy from one of the resellers.

The ticket-office person who told us we were struggling to get past 50K doesn’t get proven wrong when you buy from a reseller.

We’re just rearranging the chairs there.
