A body recovered in a well in Mecklenburg County was identified as Graham Norris Horne, 21, a man who had been reported missing approximately one month ago.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond notified investigators on Tuesday that the body was identified by fingerprints.

First responders were dispatched to the scene at 12:17 p.m. on Monday. They were able to enter the well and recover the body.

Horne had been reported missing on Aug. 15. He was traveling with a faith-based group and stopped at Simmons Truck Stop in Bracey to get fuel. Graham allegedly got into a disagreement with some of the people he was traveling with and walked away. He did not have a phone or any ties to the community.

This is still an active investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
