A Maryland woman is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 on Monday in Wythe County.

Kayla M. Will, 41, of New Windsor, Md., was ejected from the vehicle. She died later at an area hospital. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Virginia State Police is investigating the accident that occurred yesterday at 7:08 p.m. on I-81 northbound at the 85-mile marker.

A Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Will, was heading northbound on I-81 when it went off of the left side of the road and struck a guardrail.  The vehicle then went off of the right side of the road and overturned.

The crash remains under investigation.
