Mary Baldwin University announced Monday that Jennifer M. Sauer would be its next vice president of business and finance, effective Aug. 29.
Sauer most recently served as vice president for finance and administration at Delaware Valley University. For five years prior she was the vice president for finance and administration at Immaculata University. Her earlier career was devoted to the University of Richmond, where she occupied positions of progressive responsibility in business and finance and was selected as the employee inductee into Omicron Delta Kappa. She also served as financial manager for Virginia Commonwealth University.
Sauer comes to MBU with impressive experience and significant accomplishments. Her leadership spans finance, human resources, facilities, purchasing, auxiliary services, risk management, and information technology.
“Her open, transparent, and collaborative style is a great match for our Mary Baldwin family,” said MBU President Pamela R. Fox. “ She has a warm personality and an ease of communicating with humor and directness.”
Sauer earned a bachelor of science in accounting from Virginia Tech where she was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa. Her professional service is extensive, including work as a member of the board of directors of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers, the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Pennsylvania, and the CFO group for both the Associated Colleges of the South and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education.
“It is clear that great things are happening at Mary Baldwin, and the future is bright, and I am genuinely thrilled to join the team during a time of growth and planning for new, innovative initiatives,” Sauer said. “The strategic plan for MBU gave me confidence that the university leadership, board, and external constituencies are focused on core issues that will guide the path forward.”
Sauer replaces David Mowen, who, after 17 years with MBU, has accepted a new position as vice president of business affairs and treasurer for Roanoke College.
