Mark Herring launches ‘Virginia Voices’ web video campaign

AFP

mark herringDemocratic candidate for attorney general Mark Herring launched last week a web video campaign titled “Virginia Voices,” a series of videos of Virginians talking about issues that are important to them and explaining why this attorney general’s race is important for the future of the Commonwealth.

The first video features Jamie from Arlington, a lifelong Virginian who is outraged with the way politicians in Richmond have been inserting themselves in women’s health care decisions. Jamie talks about how she can’t support Tea Party politicians like Mark Obenshain, who voted to take away her right to choose and deny women the ability to make their own health care decisions.

“Mark Obenshain has been right there leading that fight with the Republicans in Richmond. He has voted to ban birth control; he voted for mandatory ultrasounds; and I think it’s very clear that, ultimately, they want to ban a woman’s right to choose. That’s not what I stand for,” Jamie says in the video.

This campaign season, Mark Obenshain has been hiding his extreme right-wing record when it comes to social issues, such as women’s health care, because it is far outside of mainstream Virginia.

“Sen. Obenshain has said that he won’t focus on these social issues; these issues surrounding women’s health care. But it’s very clear: You just have to look at his record,” Jamie says in the video.
