ralph sampsonWC Global Restaurant Partners LLC announced that it entered into an agreement with Marco’s Pizza to open 30 new restaurant units in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia and Texas.

WC Global Restaurant Partners LLC is a joint venture of WC Global Franchise Partners LLC and Tidewater Nutritional Discs LLC, and is led by NBA Hall of Famer Ralph Sampson, CEO of Winner’s Circle Enterprises, and franchise restaurant veteran Dave Black, who joined Marco’s Franchising LLC as Executive Vice President of Operations and Training in 2006, after working at Domino’s Pizza since 1972, first as a franchisee and starting in 1989, as President and COO of that corporation.

“Marco’s Pizza just celebrated the opening of the 500th unit.” said Ralph Sampson. “We are excited to start our pizza growth strategy with this very dynamic organization.”

The prototypical Marco’s Pizza store is 1,300 – 1,700 square-feet with seating for about 12 guests for “inline” retail concepts and 2,000 to 3,300 square-feet with seating for about 35 guests for stand-alone retail concepts.

“We’re looking forward to developing the Virginia market for Marco’s Pizza with a planned program designed for success, opening stores mainly in the Tidewater area.” said Dave Black. “We expect stronger momentum in our development efforts going forward, given the ownership and executive line-up of WC Global Restaurant Partners.”

About Marco’s Pizza: Headquartered in Toledo, OH, Marco’s Pizza (Marco’s Franchising, LLC) is the fastest-growing pizza company in the U.S. (based on the number of stores signed into development since 2007). Marco’s was founded by native Italian, Pasquale “Pat” Giammarco, who is committed to making Ah!thentic Italian pizza with fresh ingredients. Marco’s is now recognized as one of the top-performing restaurant franchises in the country. Giammarco moved to the U.S. from Italy when he was nine years old and grew up working in his family’s pizzeria. He later embarked on a mission to make high quality pizza on a larger scale using a secret sauce recipe that he developed and refined with his father. The first Marco’s Pizza store opened in Toledo in 1978. Gradually, stores opened throughout the Midwest and beyond. The Marco’s Pizza menu broadened as well, to include hot sub sandwiches, salads and Cheezybread offered for carryout or delivery. Today, there are 500 franchised and company-managed Marco’s Pizza stores in 33 states.
