Lynchburg VDOT District Traffic Alert: June 8-12

Amherst County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 501/130 (Snowden) – Traffic controls and flaggers in use during construction. Use caution and expect delays. Completion – April 21, 2017.

Route 643 over Horsley Creek and Route 635 connection – Thru 10/15/15, bridge replacement and approach work.  Traffic control devices and flaggers in use. Use caution; expect delays.

Various locations – Plant mix schedule underway. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.

 

Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 460, Appomattox Bypass – The right/travel lane westbound will be closed between the exit to Route24 and the exit to Route 26 from June 1-9 for concrete slab replacement.

Various locations – Plant mix schedule underway. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.

 

Buckingham County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 602 over Forsip CreekJune 22-July 10, road closed for culver t replacement. Detour via 649, 648, 60, 56 and back to 602.

Route 631 (20 – 700) – Road closure in effect with detour using Route 700. Est. comp. 9/18/15.

Various locations – Crews will do surface work, mow and respond to customer concerns.

 

Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 643 over Falling River – Through 7/22/16, bridge replacement and approach work. On 6/8/15, road closed and detour in place. Traffic control devices/flaggers in use. Expect delays.

Route 682 (Greenview Dr.  to 460 Bypass)- Plant mix work will be done in mid-June.

Route 726 – Plant mix work will be done between June 26 and July 5.

Route 698 over East Little Seneca Creek – Road will be closed June 8-19 for timber deck replacement. Detour: 701, 697, 699 and 761 back to 698.

Route 1501 over Branch of Dreaming Creek – Road  closure for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 739 and 682 to and from Route1501.

Various locations – Plant mix schedule underway. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.

Various locations – Surface treatment operations are underway. Flaggers will assist in work zones.

 

Charlotte County:  Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 675 over Cub Creek (Rt. 40 – Poor House Rd) – Road closed; temporary signal for bridge replacement. Est. comp. 9/28/15.

Phenix – Crews will cut brush and clean ditches.

Various – Crews will boom axe, work surfaces, mow and respond to customer concerns.

 

Cumberland County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 620 (Amelia/Cumberland Co. line) – Closed 2/23-8/02/15 for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 621, 13, 654 and 600.

Various locations – Surface treatment operations continue. Flaggers will assist in work zones.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow, cut brush, clean pipe and respond to customer concerns.

 

Halifax County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 49 over Aaron’s Creek (near Halifax/Mecklenburg line) – Closed thru 6/17/16 for bridge replacement.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customer concerns.

 

Nelson County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 613 over Branch of Rockfish RiverJune 15-July 2, road closed for culvert replacement. Detour: 776, 29, 6, 634 and back to 613.

Route 662 over Jones Creek – Road will be closed June 1-5 for timber deck replacement. Detour: Rt 739, 657, 654 to 661 and back to 662.

Route 680 over Branch South Fork Rockfish River – Road closed during culvert replacement. Detour via Rt 664, 151, 666, and 56. Closed 5/25-6/12.

Various locations –Plant mix schedule begins April 23. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.

 

Pittsylvania County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 29 Gretna Bypass – Be alert to the presence of manpower and equipment, as well as lane closures during shoulder widening project. Weather and other conditions permitting, the work outside each lane in both the north and southbound directions will be completed by early July.

Route 58 over 29 and 1140 over 58 – Bridge deck epoxy overlays on 5 structures to be complete by 7/1, weather permitting. Be alert to traffic controls and expect delays.

Route 603 over stream (Rt. 761-Rt. 668) – Bridge replacement; road closed 4/20-6/12, weather permitting. Detour uses Routes 603, 761 and 668.

Route 676- Bridge replacement; road closed through 11/18/15. Detour in place.

Route 694 (703-1420)– May 21-6/11, closed 8 am-4 pm, Mon-Fri for road construction.

Route 726 – Be alert to improvements, including turn lanes for local and school traffic. Signs and other traffic control devices in place. Estimated completion-April 29, 2016.

Route 823 over Green Rock Branch – June 8-July 10, road closed for structure replacement. Detour via 57, 1428, 822, 703 to 823.

Route 864 over streamJune 8July 2, road closed for culvert replacement. Detour: 863 to 41 and to 864.

Gretna and Rondo AHQ – Crews will clean roadsides.

Kentuck and Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will boom axe.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customers.

 

Prince Edward County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Various routes – Crews will perform surface treatment operations at various locations, weather permitting. Flaggers will assist in work zones.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customer concerns.

 

District-wide activities:

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance.

Surface treatment – Starting May 1, surface treatment will take place beginning in Campbell Co. and moving north to Appomattox, Amherst and Nelson Counties. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.
