Lynchburg: Rideshare driver caught in the middle of gunfight that injured one

A rideshare driver was caught in the middle of a gunfight in Lynchburg early this morning.

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, the female rideshare driver was attempting to pick up a male adult rider at 3:17 a.m. in the 700 block of Madison Street when another person fired multiple shots at the rider.

The driver was able to escape the scene unharmed.

The rider sustained a gunshot wound and was treated and later released from Lynchburg General Hospital.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident, and at this time, there is no perceived ongoing threat to the community.
