Lynchburg Police lead death investigation, man found with fatal gunshot wound in home

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead on Thursday afternoon.

The police department and Lynchburg Fire Department responded to the shooting inside a residence in the 500 block of Winston Ridge Road at 2:38 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old adult male who had sustained fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name has not been released.

A 34-year-old adult female, who was present at the time of the incident, is currently being interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

At this time, authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

This is an ongoing and active investigation. There is no known threat to the community.
