A combination trail run/mud run/obstacle course, the Blue Ridge Mountain Mudurance is a 5K race to be held September 26th at Bear Mountain Ziplines in Luray. It combines a serious test of fitness with breathtaking scenery in the forests and foothills just outside Shenandoah National Park.
Conducted by the Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce, the race is open to teams and individuals. Teams, which must be a minimum of four and maximum of eight, may be all male, all female or mixed. Award categories include adult (13 and older) and kids (8-12). New awards this year will be presented for fasted corporate team (business or nonprofit) and fastest Police/Fire and Rescue team.
The course begins on a flat, grassy field followed by a challenging hill climb that is rocky and steep in some places. Obstacles such as balance beams, mud pits, tire crawls, and climbing walls add to the difficulty level of the race.
