uvadefense.gifChris Long became the third unanimous Associated Press All-American in University of Virginia history – and the senior defensive end headlined a list of four I-A players from the Commonwealth named to the AP All-America teams.

Virginia Tech cornerback Brandon Flowers was named a second-team All-American. Tech linebacker Xavier Adibi and Virginia offensive lineman Branden Albert were named to the third team.

But the focus today is on Long – who joins former UVa. offensive lineman Jim Dombrowski (1985) and tight end Heath Miller (2004) as Cavs who earned unanimous first-team status.

Long leads the ACC and is third nationally in sacks with 14 and leads the ACC and is 10th nationally in tackles for loss with 19.

The Ivy product finished 10th in last weekend’s Heisman Trophy balloting and won the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation’s top defensive end.
