A Batesville native has been named to the All-USA Community College First Team by USA Today, the American Association of Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for two-year college students.

Jacob Neal is one of 10 students being honored today as a member of Virginia’s First Team.

Neal, 20, is a student at Piedmont Virginia Community College. Neal, a former homeschooled student, is a chemistry major with a 4.0 grade point average.

Neal plans to transfer to the University of Virginia upon graduation from PVCC.

He earned a $2,500 cash award for being named to the Community College First Team.
