Gov. Timothy M. Kaine joined the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Tuesday afternoon to announce the winners of the Governor’s CTE Exemplary Standards Awards. The awards recognize business and industry representatives for their work promoting career and technical education (CTE) and highlight the efforts of educators in providing exceptional instruction and positive outcomes for students.

“The educators, business partners, and programs honored with these awards are setting a standard of excellence for career and technical education in the Commonwealth,” Gov. Kaine said. “They are helping young people reach their goals while developing the crucial skills needed for success in the 21st-century workplace.

Among the winners:
– The Massanutten Technical Center Foundation in Harrisonburg, which took a state award for its marketing campaign to increase the visibility of CTE program.
– Spotswood High School won a Region 5 award in partnership with the Future Farmers of America and SkillsUSA students for the “Seatbelt Safety Week,” directed by Rockingham County teachers Mike Davis and Rebecca Holloway.
