Live Blog: Top seed UVA faces William & Mary in elimination game

uva charlottesville regionalTop seed and defending national champion UVA (38-21) faces #4 seed William & Mary (30-30) in an elimination game in the Charlottesville Regional on Sunday.

First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.

How we got here

Travis Watkins capped a five-run ninth-inning rally with a three-run walkoff homer to lift ECU to an 8-6 win over top seed UVA in the Charlottesville Regional on Saturday.

Pavin Smith homered twice for Virginia. Ernie Clement was 3-for-5 at the plate, and Matt Thaiss was 1-for-4 with a two-run double in a four-run UVA third.

The Tribe eliminated Bryant (47-12) with a 4-3 win earlier Saturday.

On Friday, Alec Bettinger went six strong innings, and every UVA starter in the lineup had at least one base hit in a 17-4 Cavs romp over William & Mary in the opening game of the Charlottesville Regional on Friday.
