Leesburg: Maryland man under arrest after joy ride on Washington and Old Dominion Trail

An 18-year-old man has been arrested after driving on the sidewalk of the Washington and Old Dominion Trail in Leesburg.

Luis D. Funez Medina, 18, of Columbia, Md., was charged with DWI, possession of illegal drugs, hit and run and driving without a license.

On Saturday, at 11:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a vehicle driving on the sidewalk of the trail in the area of Crosstrail Boulevard SE.

Reports indicated that the grey Ford Escape almost hit several pedestrians. There were no injuries reported.

The vehicle was located a short time later on Lawson Street SE in Leesburg.

Funez Medina was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he is being held pending a bond review.
