Del LandesDel. R. Steven Landes, R-Weyers Cave, and Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement today in response to Governor McAuliffe’s two-year budget proposal.

“It’s important to note that Governor McAuliffe’s proposal is just the first step in the budget process. I appreciate the Governor’s work on crafting this budget, but I am disappointed that he chose to include Medicaid expansion in his budget once again, and he fully knows this provision is a nonstarter.”

“I look forward to our work in the House Appropriations Committee. We will once again craft a responsible budget, addressing Virginians’ needs in a fiscally responsible manner. Budget development is a collaborative process between the Governor and General Assembly and I look forward to reviewing this budget and seeking areas of common ground that will help us move the process forward.”

Landes represents the 25th House District, which includes parts of Albemarle, Augusta, and Rockingham Counties. Landes is currently serving his tenth term in the Virginia House of Delegates.
