Klines Dairy Bar continues 75th anniversary celebration Sunday

kline's dairy barKlines Dairy Bar continues the celebration of a landmark year with a 75th Anniversary Bash on Sunday, July 29.

The 1-4 p.m. event will be held at the Turner Pavilion, 228 S. Liberty St., Harrisonburg. Admission is free.

“Klines is grateful for all the support we’ve received over the years,” said Kim Arehart. “We want to show our appreciation by throwing a party for the community.”

Arehart started working at the original Kline’s location in Harrisonburg as a teenager before opening the store in Staunton in 1997 and the Waynesboro store in 2008.

The Bash will feature live music by Many Nights Ahead.

For those wishing to purchase food, a number of food trucks will be on hand including Freedom Funnel Cakes, Hank’s Flying Pig, Old School Burger Bus and Urgie’s Cheesesteaks.

In addition to live music and food trucks, there will be cornhole, a bounce house, balloons and face painting for kids, and of course cake and Klines ice cream.

The event will be held rain or shine.

This is the second event planned as part of 75th anniversary celebrations. Klines kicked off a year of celebration on March 20 with 75 Cent Cone Day. The four locations scooped 5,525 cones during the event.

About Klines Dairy Bar

Established in 1943, John Kline began Kline’s Frozen Custard with the help of his father, Grover Kline, in downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia. The ice cream stand was located in the first floor of the family’s house and customers were served through a walkup window.

The business moved from Main Street to Wolfe Street in 1964, and opened new locations in Staunton in 1997, South Main Street in Harrisonburg in 2005 and Waynesboro in 2008.
