The Trump administration is literally beside itself over where kids in five Northern Virginia school districts go to the bathroom.
U.S. Sens. Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, both D-Va., are trying to be the voices of reason.
“We write to demand the immediate reversal of the Department of Education’s decision to punitively withhold hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds from Alexandria City Public Schools, Arlington Public Schools, Fairfax County Public Schools, Loudoun County Public Schools and Prince William County Public Schools – a move that is directly contrary to the interests of students, parents, and educators,” the senators in a letter to Education Secretary Linda McMahon on Monday.
It’s McMahon who oversaw the move to put the five on “high-risk status” – the DOE’s version of “double-secret probation” – after deciding that they were in violation of Title IX “for their policies allowing students to occupy intimate facilities based on ‘gender identity,’ not biological sex,” according to a press release from the Trumpers.
Fun fact: Linda McMahon is actively being sued by five men who were sexually abused as underaged boys while working for her pro-wrestling company, now known as WWE.
ICYMI
“My clients’ lives were destroyed by the defendants who allowed and enabled the open, rampant sexual abuse to occur for years,” said Greg Gutzler, the attorney leading the “Ring Boys” lawsuit against WWE, Linda and Vince McMahon and TKO, which purchased WWE from the McMahons in 2023.
“The abuse inflicted on my clients was inexcusable; they were mere children and had the right to expect that WWE executives would take action to protect them from the predators working within the WWE. We will bring light to their truth and fight for accountability and justice,” Gutzler said.
Against that backdrop, let’s hear from Linda McMahon on Northern Virginia school bathrooms.
“The Northern Viriginia school divisions that are choosing to abide by woke gender ideology in place of federal law must now prove they are using every single federal dollar for a legal purpose,” McMahon said.
The opposite of woke, we can presume, is turning a blind eye to a pedo ring run for years under your nose by one of your employees.
“We have given these Northern Virginia school divisions every opportunity to rectify their policies which blatantly violate Title IX. Today’s accountability measures are necessary because they have stubbornly refused to provide a safe environment for young women in their schools,” McMahon said.
This is par for the course for an administration that has put everything it has into protecting the high-dollar friends of the late disgraced billionaire, Jeffrey Epstein, who just so happened to be best buds and lifelong pals with Donald Trump.
Deny, deflect and defund, as necessary.
“The fact that the Department is punishing these five school systems, while not taking similar action against other jurisdictions with similar policies, suggests that the asserted Title IX rationale is a pretext for political retribution,” Kaine and Warner wrote to McMahon, who still hasn’t yet dismantled the Department of Education, as she promised to do when confirmed by the U.S. Senate earlier this year.
“Placing these schools on ‘high-risk’ status is unheard of and deeply troubling,” the senators wrote. “Your actions will cause harm to over 386,000 students enrolled across all five districts that stand to lose over $300 million in federal funding.”
