Today, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near Eastern and South and Central Asian Affairs, released the following statement on additions to the coalition against ISIL.
“Today the multinational coalition to defeat ISIL was made stronger with new commitments of support from Belgium, Denmark and the United Kingdom. I applaud these nations for answering President Obama’s call at the united nations this week by authorizing their country’s respective engagement in the mission. I especially commend the British Parliament for returning from recess to authorize British participation in air strikes against ISIL. Our own troops deserve to know that they have the support of Congress in this mission and that’s why we should also debate and vote on an authorization for American action against ISIL.”
