James Madison women’s basketball senior guard Kirby Burkholder (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) is the Colonial Athletic Association co-Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday. This is the fourth time this season Burkholder has won the conference honor and the sixth time it’s gone to a JMU player.

The Preseason CAA Player of the Year poured in a career-high 33 points in helping the Dukes snap the Blue Hens 44-game conference winning streak. She also tied her career-high with seven made threes and added five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal.

Burkholder leads the CAA in points per game at 19.0 and ranks sixth in rebounds per game at 7.8 per contest. On Sunday, she moved into 10th on the program’s all-time rebounding list with 743, passing Katherine Johnson (1974-77) for 10th.

Burkholder shared the CAA’s weekly award with Towson’s Tanisha McTiller while UNCW’s Brie Mobley claimed Rookie of the Week accolades.

The two CAA Players of the Week square off when JMU next returns to the floor on Thursday, Jan. 16. The Dukes take on Towson at SECU Arena in Towson, Md. at 7 p.m.
