Jim Webb skips out on Democratic National Committee meeting: Sends message on Hillary Clinton ties

Chris Graham

jim-webbFormer Virginia U.S. Sen. Jim Webb isn’t in Minneapolis today to take the stage at the Democratic National Committee Summer Meeting, and it’s not because he’s busy helping his daughter move into college.

That’s the reason Webb gave to DNC officials, but Webb campaign aide Craig Crawford told BuzzFeed Thursday night that the candidate is not happy with the party’s move to enter into a joint fundraising agreement with the campaign of Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

“What’s the point of time limited 10 minute speeches and a hospitality room?” Crawford told BuzzFeed via email. “And considering the DNC announcement of their joint fundraising deal with the Clinton campaign haven’t they just turned themselves into another poor parody of the Sopranos?”

Webb is the only Democratic presidential candidate skipping out on the DNC event.
