It’s Fathers and Bagpipes at the Richard Adams Variety Show

richard adamsRichard Adams gets a jump on Father’s Day with his June 14, 2013 Variety Show.  He will celebrate the holiday with a host of fathers performing with their son or daughter and top it all off with a bagpipe serenade.

Richard will provide “Complimentary Richard Adams Variety Show Ear Plugs” for those for whom the bagpipe is an exotic instrument.

Featured on the show will be the Orville Bame and his son Eric.  They will combine their talents on piano, trombone, accordion and bass.   Buddy Thomas with October (aka Toby Thomas) will provide some father-son duets on guitar. Chris Bono will, as Richard says, “play some piano” while his daughter Rebekah will tear up the Gateway dance floor with her taps shoes.

The bagpipe serenade will be presented by Kathy Hawkins who will offer not only her musical talent, but provide social commentary on the instrument that makes the Celtic heart leap and a few others to plug their ears.  To ensure that all will be happy, Richard has arranged for complimentary ear plugs to be offered at the door for any who would like to lessen the impact of the bagpipe.

Richard will also continue his newest audience participation segment.  Volunteer contestants for “YOU CAN BE A COMEDIAN” will compete for a small stipend a certificate announcing their status as a professional comedian.  “Bring your best joke and join me on the stage,” says Richard.

This is the last Richard Adams Variety Show of the second Gateway season.  Richard and his sidekick Bill Martin are going on the road this summer to find new talent and new segments for the third season when the Variety Show moves to the first Friday of the month.

The final Richard Adams Variety Show for the season is at 7:30pm at WTA’s Gateway.  Doors open at 7 pm.  Tickets are $9.99 in advance and $12 on the day of performance.  They may be purchased online at www.wtagateway.comor by calling the box office 540-943-9999.  Remaining tickets will be available on the night of the performance.
