Police are looking for a man who left a probation camp at the Cold Springs Community Corrections Alternative Program in Greenville this afternoon.

Anthony D. Moreland, 42, is a probationer and left the camp without permission, according to authorities.

Moreland is sentenced to serve probation at CCAP, according to a statement from the Virginia Department of Corrections.

CCAPs are secure probation facilities, and probationers like Moreland, agree to participate as an alternative to incarceration.

There is supervision on site, according to the CCAP website.

Because these are secure probationary facilities, a probationer is considered an absconder when they leave the facility, according to the VADOC.

Numerous agencies are searching for Moreland in the area of Cold Springs Road. The camp is located at 192 Spitler Circle in Greenville.

Moreland is described as a Black male with brown eyes. He is 5 foot, six inches tall and weighs approximately 135 pounds.

There is a heavy police presence with Augusta County, Virginia State Police and Virginia Department of Corrections personnel on the ground.

Staff at Camp 10 could not provide a description of his clothing.

Moreland was taking part in the Community Corrections Alternative Program, or CCAP, which is a sentencing option for those convicted of non-violent crimes. The program offers an opportunity to engage in treatment, education, vocational training and employment.

If you see Moreland, police recommend you do not approach him and instead call 911.
