Hokies dominate Georgia Tech in ACC opener

Virginia Tech jumped out to an early 15-2 lead and cruised from there to a 59-43 win over Georgia Tech in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday.

The Hokies (20-10) led by as many as 19 points in the first half and went into the halftime break up 36-19. Georgia Tech (13-18) would get no closer than 15 in the second half.

Malcolm Delany led a balanced Virginia Tech attack with 15 points.

Tech, the tournament’s #6 seed, plays #3 seed Florida State at 9:30 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals.
