A new book of essays that celebrates the 300th anniversary of the Church of the Brethren contains a foreword by Bridgewater College President Phillip C. Stone and was co-edited by Stephen L. Longenecker, professor of history at Bridgewater, who also contributed an essay to the book.

Jeff Bach, an associate professor of religious studies at Elizabethtown College, also edited the volume.

Lines, Places, and Heritage: Essays Commemorating the 300th Anniversary of the Church of the Brethren, was released this month by the Brethren Higher Education Association. It contains feature articles by Brethren scholars in education, history, political science, sociology and theology as gifts of scholarship to the denomination.

The book explores peace and social justice, ministry and higher education and history of the Church of the Brethren. Including Stone and Longenecker, 14 scholars contributed to the book.

The Brethren Higher Education Association consists of Bethany Theological Seminary, Bridgewater College, Elizabethtown College, Juniata College, McPherson College, Manchester College and the University of La Verne.

The book is available from Brethren Press and the Bridgewater College bookstore.
