Highland VPAS Represented at Health Fair

secondwindlogoKathy Solomon, Community Programs Director for Highland County’s Second Wind Programs, and Bath Highland RD Kathryn Coit participated in the Highland Medical Center’s 13th Annual Health Fair April 16-18.

The medical center offered free oral cancer screenings, blood sugar, triglycerides and cholesterol tests, blood pressure, weight and body mass index measurements, along with additional inexpensive health screenings. The Highland County Health Department gave free TDAP vaccinations.

The Highland County Sheriff’s Department participated on site in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Event. All of these brought in many local residents, who then had the opportunity to pick up rack cards describing all of VPAS’ available services, Second Wind event calendars and educational materials on care giving, exercise and other helpful topics.

Solomon and Coit spoke with everyone who expressed interest in VPAS services and signed up several individuals for the CDSMP workshop that will begin April 25.
