Highland County: Monterey woman dead after crash on Potomac River Road

A Monterey woman is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Potomac River Road on Wednesday at 12:15 p.m.

Rebecca Hunt Walker, 70, was transported to the University of Virginia hospital, where she later died due to injuries in the accident.

The crash occurred two tenths of a mile north of Sunset Drive in Highland County, according to Virginia State Police.

Her Subaru Forester was traveling south on Potomac River Road, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a fence and overturned.

Walker was not wearing her seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
