A Highland Springs man is dead after his vehicle veered off Interstate 64 in Henrico County, colliding with a sign.

John Albert Price, 74, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on Sunday at 5:20 a.m., according to Virginia State Police.

Price’s Dodge sedan was traveling eastbound on I-64 just before the 200-mile marker.

The vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch and continued through the grass before colliding with an overhead Virginia Department of Transportation sign on the driver’s side. The vehicle then spun and came to rest in the right ditch.

Henrico County Fire personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Price dead at 5:31 a.m. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.
