An Arizona man is dead following a high-speed crash on Interstate 95 in Henrico County early Monday morning.

Robert George Roberts, 68, of Chandler, Ariz., died due to injuries sustained in the crash at VCU Medical Center.

The fatal crash, where alcohol was a contributing factor, occurred at 3 a.m. in the southbound lanes on I-95 approximately six-tenths of a mile north of Parham Road, according to Virginia State Police.

Roberts’ 2020 black Cadillac XT6 SUV ran off the road on the right side, striking a ditch, going airborne and striking trees on the driver’s side. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest upright.

The driver was extricated by fire department and EMS personnel.

The Cadillac was the only vehicle involved, and there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

This crash remains under investigation.
