Local nonprofits working in the health and addiction-recovery fields have the opportunity to apply for grant funding through the Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority.

VOAA has opened a grant cycle to support projects and initiatives that address the ongoing opioid crisis.

The new grant cycle is open to applications through Monday, Nov. 17, at 5 p.m.

The local governments in Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro are working together as a cooperative partnership to give the region the best chance of securing the most funding possible from the VOAA to support opioid abatement projects locally.

“Our communities have been deeply affected by the opioid epidemic,” said Anna Leavitt, the director of the Community Action Partnership of Staunton, Augusta and Waynesboro. “This funding is a critical opportunity to invest in local solutions that will save lives and build healthier futures.”

CAPSAW is offering two training sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 22, for eligible nonprofits to assist potential applicants:

  • In-person training: Augusta County Government Center, Smith Room East, 9:30 a.m.
  • Virtual training: 5:30 p.m., access code provided after registration

Both sessions will provide detailed guidance on eligibility, application requirements, and funding priorities.

Registration is highly encouraged, and can be completed here: www.surveymonkey.com/r/OAAFY27.

For more information on eligibility, application requirements, or the training sessions, contact Anna Leavitt at [email protected] or visit www.waynesboro.va.us/2279/Opioid-Abatement.
