Goodlatte, a great pumpkin, Marro, adult store in Staunton

LOSER: Bob Goodlatte not seeking Senate nomination
Talk had been out there for years that Goodlatte might be interested in succeeding John Warner when the senator stepped down – and that talk intensified when Warner put the Sixth District congressman’s name on a short list of people he considered qualified to follow him.
That was before Goodlatte announced this week that he wasn’t planning to seek the GOP nomination to run for the Senate next year.
Oh, well – he still holds one of the safer congressional seats in the country.

WINNER: Nelson County man grows state-record pumpkin
It came in at 1,138 pounds, y’all.
You could provide affordable housing in that thing, seriously.

LOSER: Independent for 27th Senate District seat feels left out
Well, yeah, Mr. Marro, you’re being left out.
How about contacting news organizations covering the race to say hi every once in a while, for starters?
A campaign website and contact information would also be helpful.

WINNER: Adult store opens in Staunton
And gets tons more free publicity for doing so.
Makes you wonder if he’s not secretly in cahoots with his detractors who supposedly want to run him out of town.
