Join author Andrew D. Kaufman on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. for a reading and discussion of his latest book “Give War and Peace a Chance: Tolstoyan Wisdom for Troubled Times.” Kaufman recently appeared on the syndicated talk show “Katie” to discuss his book and the Books behind Bars program.

Stone Soup will keep its cafe open leading up to this event for anyone who wishes to arrive early and enjoy dinner on the charming patio or inside the cafe. Light snacks and beer/wine will be available throughout the event.

A book signing will follow the reading and discussion at Stone Soup.

About the book: An entertaining, thought-provoking, and accessible argument for why War and Peace is more relevant to readers now than ever. Give War and Peace a Chance takes readers on a journey through War and Peace that reframes their very understanding of what it means to live through troubled times, and survive them.

Andrew D. Kaufman, internationally recognized Russian literature scholar at the University of Virginia, is the author of Understanding Tolstoy and coauthor of Russian for Dummies. An award-winning teacher of Russian language, literature and culture, he is a featured Tolstoy expert on Oprah.com and is frequently invited to discuss Russian literature and culture on national and international TV and radio programs.
