George Verghese joins Augusta Health Pulmonology

vergheseGeorge Verghese, MD, a board-certified pulmonologist, has joined the Augusta Health Pulmonology office in Fishersville.  The practice is located in the Heart and Vascular Center on the Augusta Health campus.  The office phone number is 540.245.7190.

After graduating from Duke University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Dr. Verghese earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Duke University School of Medicine.  He completed his internal medicine residency and a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of California in San Francisco.  Dr. Verghese is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine and is a member of the American Thoracic Society and Alpha Omega Alpha.  His professional interest is the expert management of all aspects of pulmonary and critical care medicine, including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung diseases, sarcoidosis, lung cancer and bronchoscopy.

Previously, Dr. Verghese has been a faculty physician at the University of Virginia, and served as the medical director of the UVA Interstitial Lung Disease Clinic and the UVA Medical Intensive Care Unit.  His research interests are interstitial lung diseases and lung cancer.
