George Mason junior Erik Copes suspended to open the season

Chris Graham

George Mason Athletics Director Tom O’Connor announced Friday that men’s basketball junior Erik Copes has been suspended for six games for violation of athletic department policy.

As a sophomore last season, Copes averaged 5.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in 34 starts. In two seasons, the 6’8” forward has played in 61 games.

He is practicing with the team, but will not travel with the team. He will be eligible to return to the line-up for the non-conference home game against Rhode Island on November 30.
