Waynesboro got six scoreless innings from starter Adam Curtis, and the Generals offense scored early, often and then some en route to an easy 11-1 win over Strasburg Friday night at Mathers Park at Kate Collins Field.

Curtis (3-1, 3.26 ERA) was masterful on a sweltering night – scattering five hits and striking out eight while walking just one Express batter.

He was staked to an early lead when Brandon Murray knocked home Bradley Noland on a sacrifice fly to left in the bottom of the first to give Waynesboro a 1-0 advantage.

The Generals added three more runs in the second on an RBI single by Jeb Weymouth and an RBI sac fly by Noland.

It was the Adam Curtis Show from there, as Curtis matched his season total in strikeouts coming into the game with the eight on the mound Friday night.

“I don’t know what it was. We were trying to do the little things right, let them get themselves out,” Curtis said.

Ryan Breen was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Noland, Weymouth, Julian Ridings and Anthony Iacomini each had two hits for Waynesboro.

The win improves Waynesboro to 18-9 on the season. The Generals have a one-game lead in the South Division over second-place Harrisonburg.

Waynesboro travels to Luray Saturday night.
