FUMA wins Caissons Classic at Fishburne Military School

FMS newFork Union Military Academy topped the host Fishburne Military School Caissons in the championship game on Saturday to win the 15th annual Caissons Classic. The Blue Devils topped Randolph-Macon Academy on Friday night 67-26 while the Caissons defeated the Colonels of Massanutten Military Academy 79-29.

On Saturday Randolph-Macon faced Massanutten in the consolation game. The Yellow Jackets of R-MA took an early 16-0 lead and held it throughout the game to take third place in the tournament.

In the championship game, FUMA and FMS traded the lead throughout the first quarter before the Blue Devils took control and carried a 12 point lead into halftime. The Caissons mounted several charges in the second half but were still down 9 when the late game free throw march gave FUMA the 15 point win, 69-54.

Fork Union’s Lewis Freeman won the tournament’s Most Valuable Player Award with 11 points against R-MA and 21 in the championship game.
