A frost advisory has been issued for portions of three states, including Virginia, for Thursday morning from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Temperatures as low as 33 will result in frost formation, according to the advisory from the U.S. National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington.

The advisory area includes western Virginia, portions of western Maryland and the eastern and panhandle of West Virginia.

The NWS warns that frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation and could be killed if left uncovered.

To prepare, tender plants should be protected from the cold.
