The Board of Directors at Frontier Community Bank has promoted Alan Sweet to the position of president and CEO.

Sweet succeeds Wayne Turner, who has served the Virginia community banking industry successfully for more than 33 years.

Sweet joined Frontier while it was organizing in 2007, and was instrumental in guiding Frontier through the variety of approvals necessary to charter a de novo bank in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Mr. Sweet has served as Frontier’s executive vice president and chief lending officer from its inception, and was responsible for business development, credit quality, product development, loan administration, and marketing prior to this promotion.

A lifelong resident of Augusta County, Sweet is a seasoned banker with more than 19 years of local experience. Sweet, who resides currently in Stuarts Draft, earned a bachelor of science degree from Bridgewater College with a double major in economics and business administration. He also holds degrees from the Virginia Bankers Association School of Bank Management and the American Bankers Association Graduate School of Banking.

Following graduation, Sweet joined the former Planters Bank and Trust Company as a management trainee and quickly progressed to the position of senior vice president. Immediately prior to joining Frontier, Sweet served as a senior vice president in commercial lending for The First Bank and Trust Company.

Sweet is an active community member, who serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Waynesboro and Staunton and the Blue Ridge Community College Foundation. Past community board service includes the Stuarts Draft Business Association, the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce, the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, and the Stuarts Draft Crime Prevention Association.
