Sarah Chase of Lexington met recently with Philippe Labro, author, filmmaker and alumnus of Washington and Lee University, in Besançon, France.
Labro’s bestseller, The Foreign Student, is a fond reminiscence of the two years that he spent at Washington and Lee in the 1950s.
Chase, daughter of Jane and David Chase of Lexington, and granddaughter of Betty and Dr. William Harman of Staunton, is now “the foreign student” at the Lycée Pasteur in Besançon.
Labro and Chase’s French host father, Gérard Dufrêche, participated in a charity auction in Besançon on Sunday.
Dufrêche’s son, Eric, met Sarah in Virginia last summer during his homestay exchange with the Tyndall-Larner family in Charlottesville and the Gillock family in Staunton.
