A freeze watch is in effect from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning in multiple counties in Virginia.

The freeze watch includes Augusta, Rockingham, Page and Shenandoah counties.

The severe weather alert runs from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 31 are possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The NWS recommends making preparations now.
