Fishburne Military School’s Headmaster and Senior Army Instructor announced Thursday that four cadets from the Virginia military school have earned nominations this month to attend United States Service Academies.

Congressional nominations were awarded to Cadet Daniel May (Stafford, VA) to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy (Great Neck, NY) and to Cadet Colby Gorog (Virginia Beach, VA) to attend the United States Military Academy (West Point, NY).

Fishburne Military School, recognized as an Honor Unit with Distinction, is also permitted to nominate qualified Cadets to any of the United States Service Academies itself.

FMS Senior Army Instructor, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Hunt, US Army (Retired), officially announced this morning that FMS would award Honor Unit with Distinction nominations to: Cadet Colby Gorog (Virginia Beach, VA) to attend the United States Military Academy (West Point, NY) as well as to attend United States Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD); Cadet Reid D’Amico (Pittsburgh, PA) to attend the United States Military Academy (West Point, NY); and Cadet Diego Dura Ballester (Valencia, Spain) to attend the United States Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD).

“Our sincere congratulations go out,” noted Hunt, “to each of these Cadets, their families and their teachers. This is a difficult process and these young men’s performances have earned them the respect of their peers as well as their instructors.”

Founded in 1879, Fishburne Military School is a private all boys’ boarding school for grades 7 through 12 that overlooks the town of Waynesboro, VA in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley. Distinguished as the oldest and smallest of Virginia’s Military Schools, FMS offers individualized attention in a caring, family-oriented environment.  FMS strives to provide the Corps of Cadets with a sound academic foundation, a healthy mental and physical environment, as well as military training for better understanding of the obligations of honor, citizenship, and self-discipline.
