Foundation to host Civil War symposium

A Sept. 29 symposium will examine the 1864 Shenandoah Campaign of Union Gen. Philip Sheridan.
The symposium – hosted by the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation – will feature four nationally recognized scholars of the Civil War in the Shenandoah Valley.
Jeffrey Wert, Dr. Brandon Beck, Dr. Joseph Whitehorne and Jonathan Noyalas will lead the symposium – which will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Godfrey Miller Historic Home, 28 S. Loudoun St., Winchester.
Registration for the event will begin at 8 a.m. the morning of the 29th.
