Deion Sanders has named Liberty transfer QB Kaidon Salter his starter for Friday’s season opener against Georgia Tech.
I’m old enough to remember Sanders complaining about the UVA Football program poaching his starting tailback.
Makes no sense to complain about poaching when you’re doing it, too.

“The kid has a ton of experience, dual threat, can throw the heck out of the ball as well. “He’s the guy, he’s the guy at this point,” Sanders said of Salter, who was the starter at Liberty for the past three seasons.
The numbers took a big step back in 2024.
A year earlier, Salter passed for 2,876 yards and 32 TDs, and rushed for 1,089 yards and 12 TDs; in 2024, he passed for 1,886 yards and 15 TDs, and ran for 587 yards and seven TDs.
The Liberty program took a step back, too, in Year 2 under Jamey Chadwell, finishing 8-4, after going 13-1 and earning a New Year Six bowl invite.
Salter beat out five-star true freshman Julian Lewis for the QB1 spot at Colorado, though you might have noticed, Sanders said Salter is the guy “at this point,” which hints that the decision could be subject to change.
