The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank announces that it will be the charitable beneficiary of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s concert on Oct. 23rd at the John Paul Jones Arena.

Springsteen has donated four concert tickets to the Food Bank for auction. Auction winners will receive the following:

–          A pre-concert pass to the E Street Lounge – a cash bar lounge where  they can relax with the E Street Band prior to the show

–          Choice of seating in Stadium seats within the first five rows to the left or right of the stage or General Admission, a corralled-off, standing-room only area directly in front of the stage

The ticket auction is now open for bids through the Food Bank’s web site, brafb.org. The auction will close at noon on Thursday, Oct. 18.

“We are honored to have the support of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band this year,” said Larry Zippin, Blue Ridge Area Food Bank CEO. “Bruce Springsteen’s ongoing commitment to ending hunger is inspiring, and we are profoundly grateful that he is urging our community to join him in bringing food and hope to a growing number of people in need.”

Springsteen, a founding member of World Hunger Year’s Artists Against Hunger and Poverty, staunchly supports the efforts of community-based hunger relief organizations throughout North America and around the world.

During his Oct. 23rd performance, Springsteen will speak briefly on behalf of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and encourage concert-goers to join him in his mission to end hunger by making a donation to the Food Bank. The Food Bank will also be collecting non-perishable food donations at the concert.

Those wishing to support Springsteen’s efforts but cannot attend the concert may contribute online by selecting “Donate Now” at www.brafb.org.
