- An Evening with Edgar Allen Poe: Valley Playhouse is back at Court Square Theater this October with a creepy show featuring haunting adaptations of six Poe classics. Soothe your tell-tale heart after the unsettling performance with a nightcap at The Golden Pony Bar. With new cocktails featured each week, there’s sure to be something interesting to wet your whistle.
- Immersive Art & Flavor Lunch: Duke Hall Gallery on JMU’s campus is a short walk away from downtown and is open to the public Tuesday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. This fall, you’ll be able to see True Grit, an immersive exhibit by award-winning Washington, D.C. artist Nekisha Durrett. Pair this free exhibit with an immersive culinary experience at BoBoKo Indonesian Cafe – let these flavors transport you.
- Sweet Sounds Evening: Start your evening with something sweet from Bella Gelato & Pastries and then check out some sweet tunes at live music venue, Clementine Cafe right down the street. Coming up this fall include shows by Who Shot John and The Wilson Springs Hotel.
- Breakfast Dance: Dance comes alive this fall at the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts, located just a few blocks down Main Street. Among a diverse schedule of live performances and showcases, see the work of JMU’s talented young artists at the Fall Student Dance Concert, November 9-12. Then, dance on over to downtown’s newest neighbor Texas Inn for a late-night breakfast.
- Nothing Like a Classic: There’s something classic about dinner and a movie for a date night activity and downtown is the perfect place for this dynamic duo. Try the current special at Mashita. They are bound to have something delicious (it’s in their name after all) and then you’re right around the corner to easily catch a movie at Court Square Theater.
