fms-logoFishburne Military School combo guard James Rucker (6’4’, 185, Knightdale, N.C.) has committed to Division II power Mount Olive (N.C.). Rucker announced the commitment on Saturday.

“It was just the best fit for me. I like their style of basketball. Their up-tempo style will fit me well,” said Rucker, who can play and defend either of the guard positions and was an important glue-type player for fifth-year Fishburne coach Ed Huckaby’s 2013-2014 Caissons, which made its second straight trip to the National Prep Championships.

Mount Olive finished 19-9 in 2013-2014, and nearly pulled off a major upset of D1 East Carolina before losing 77-75 on Dec.8.

Rucker feels he is ready to add to an already successful program with the self-improvement he was able to achieve in his year at FMS.

Coach Huckaby gave me more time at one, and now I feel more confident at one and two. I feel like I’m ready for the next level,” Rucker said.
